This year, we hope that we can count on you again to help provide proper gym shoes (and socks too!) to the 300 students of McIntosh Elementary School.

It’s because of YOU that Annie’s Locker has been able to donate over 2,000 pairs of athletic shoes to elementary schools in the Rockford area.

Here’s a recap of what your generous donations have achieved so far:

  • In 2013: Donated 500 pairs of shoes to RPS 205 elementary schools
  • In 2014: Donated 1,500 pairs of shoes to RPS 205 King, Beyer, Lewis Lemon, Nelson, and Ellis elementary schools
  • In 2015: Donated 300 pairs of shoes and socks to RPS 205 Kishwaukee Elementary School – we introduced the Fit in 60 “play initiative” that encouraged students to get 60 minutes of activity every day to earn their new shoes and socks

So far, McIntosh Elementary students have participated in our Pennies for Tennies program!  In just one month, the students collected $593.82.

So now, we are asking YOU, our wonderful and generous donors, to help us in this years campaign through monetary donations to Annie’s Locker.  With your donation, we will be able to purchase shoes directly through Runners Image, our local Rockford running store, for the children at McIntosh.

On April 5th we arrived at McIntosh Elementary School and began the FIT IN 60 program along with a new program called PENNIES FOR TENNIES.  We hope to inspire the students of McIntosh to be givers as well as receivers of shoes. We asked the students to collect coins that Annie’s Locker would match, to purchase shoes for an underprivileged elementary school in another country. The students collected coins from April 5- May 5 and raised a grand total $593.82!

Please help us reach our goal of 300 shoes for McIntosh students.  We are asking for financial donations only, as we will be purchasing the shoes through Runners Image.

Hundreds of students in the Rockford Public Schools don’t have the proper footwear for gym class due to poverty or homelessness. Our goal this year was to equip as many as 300 needy students to go back to school with gym shoes and socks so they can participate in gym and be active at home! Your donation of shoes or or a tax deductible financial donation helped us meet this years goal and continue to fulfill our mission of Inspiring and Equipping People To Lead Healthier Lives! THANK YOU.

Share A Pair History

Our Share A Pair Drive is our annual event when we ask the community to “Share A Pair.”  The item we ask for has changed over the years, from socks to sports bras to shoes… but Share A Pair supports our mission of inspiring and equipping people to lead healthier lives!

In 2013, through collaboration with the International Peace Committee and Youth Services, Annie’s Locker was able to provide new gym shoes to homeless children at 55 elementary school as part of our fourth annual Share A Pair drive.  As part of the celebration of the 2013 International Day of Peace, a labyrinth entitled “Walking in Their Shoes” was created by Barrie Gibby and installed at Rockford University.  It was comprised entirely of new children’s shoes; funds were raised to enable us to purchase 500 pairs of shoes.

We have been so inspired by last years’ success that our 2014 goal is to purchase over 800 pairs of shoes that will go to three schools with the highest percentage of at risk and homeless children:  Lewis Lemon; King; and Beyer Elementary Schools.

Tax deductible donations can be made through Paypal or checks made payable to Annie’s Locker.
