Annie's Locker Fitness Center
It’s
been a whole year since Annie’s Locker started working with the
Rockford Rescue Mission Women’s Recovery Program.  What started out as
assistance with running clothing has grown to the residences
participation in local races, weekly walks and now, a beautiful fitness
facility, on site, so they can use exercise to help in their personal
recovery.
Annie’s
Locker Fitness Center in the Rockford Rescue Mission has become such a
special journey for myself and everyone involved.  What better way to
work toward recovery but with the help of physical fitness.

March 2010
On March 20th, dozens of runners were

"SURVIVOR" Trail Series 20k.
Their banner contained all the names of the real
"survivors" in their lives.

"An update on Pat, the gentleman that Annie's Locker blessed w/ a new pair of Asics.
This is his response when I asked him how they are treating him.  "Ah
they're wonderful its just like flying, now i am walking around there passing
everybody up!"

Pat
started walking up and down a parking deck in Elgin about a year ago after
being diagnosed with Hepatits C.  His has since gone through 50 weeks of
treatment and still walks every day.  It is his hope to get to where he
can jog daily.

He
spent about 20 years living the lifestyle of the streets after losing his
family by choosing his addictions over his loved ones.  He has since
reconnected w/ his family and speaks to them almost daily and sees them at least
2 times a month, many times every weekend.

He currently
runs a halfway house where he is the live-in house manager.  It's his
desire to pour his life into others and help them see the love of Jesus as
other people did for him."

• Andres, ran
his farthest distance yet at the Rock Cut Trail series. He did very well at the
20K! He was sore, but all smiles at the finish line. He thanked us many times,
and told me to thank all those who helped donate clothing and especially for
the wonderful brand new shoes from Runner's Image.

• Last week, I
spotted our 3 sweet Rockford Wildcats, who were running proud in their new gear! I
recognized the clothing and smiled as they blasted past me on the bike path:o)-from Carol Bingley, Annie's Locker
