- HELPING PEOPLE FIND THEIR WINGS

'Tis The Season

The Gift of Health
Celebrate the holiday season by donating to Annie's Locker today at annieslocker.org/DONATE-.html. Your gift of $25 can buy a struggling mom a supportive sports bra! $60 could buy a pair of cross-trainers, and $100 could send FOUR new runners to their first 5K. Give Rockford the gift that keeps on giving - the tools to live healthier lives.

Angels On Site

Rockford Turkey Trot
We had a fabulously chilly time at the Rockford Turkey Trot! We gave away all of the Running For Two (R42) bandanas and jelly bracelets that we brought so 208 more people now know about R42.

Several runners told us they were sending them out of state.... so the movement that was started by our namesake Annie is having widespread impact on people's lives!

Cover Girls

We made the cover of the November 2013 issue!
Cristina Gloria, Erika Smith, Beth Johnson and Lauri Gesner are shown Running for Two on the cover.  Please check out our article "Strength from others"  - a beautiful and inspiring story of one man's Running For Two experience on page 10!

Surprised by an Angel
We were surprised by an angel on October 2, 2024 when the Rockford Road Runners presented us with a check for $3,000 from an anonymous donor!

This donor, who we are calling "Angel", donated anonymously to Annie's Locker last year as well.

THANK YOU to this generous donor and to all of the earthly angels who work silently to improve our community.

Share A Pair Update

33 elementary schools.  500 pairs of shoes.
We set an ambitious goal to collect 500 pairs of gym shoes in less than 1 month. Between shoe donations and $2,875 in cash donations, we met our goal of obtaining 500 pairs of new youth gym shoes for the International Day of Peace and needy students! Before distribution to students this week, the shoes were part of the International Day of Peace "Walking in Their Shoes" labyrinth at Rockford University in September.

Haskell school was one of the schools to receive shoes. This 5 year old was first to receive. He was actually a whole size larger than the ones he was wearing to school.

Thanks to everyone who supported this amazing community project.

"I had an awesome experience and appreciate my friend Anna for telling me about this organization. She runs with the Road Runners and encouraged me to run and start living healthy when I was going through a hard time.  I was new to this area with no job, four kids and depressed.

I believe running is giving my life back and I just wanna keep going. I did the Biggest Loser 5K - it was great time - 37 mins couldn't believe it."

- Felicia, Biggest Loser 5K Race Scholarship Recipient
